Venezuela: How We Got Here, and What’s Next?

October 16 @ 5:45 pm - 8:15 pm

Cleveland Committee on Foreign Relations events are for CCFR members only.

Venezuela’s rapid economic and political collapse shocked many onlookers and has led to massive street protests and uprisings. Today, a power struggle continues between Venezuelan President Maduro and opposition leader, Guaido. Dany Bahar, fellow in the Global Economy and Development program at the Brookings Institution, will join us to discuss the catastrophe in Venezuela, the state of the economy and unrest within the nation, and how the international community should respond.

Dany Bahar is a fellow in the Global Economy and Development program at the Brookings Institution and was previously a David M. Rubenstein Fellow at Brookings. Bahar is an Israeli and Venezuelan economist and his research focuses on economic development and patterns of migrant and refugee movement. Bahar is also an associate at the Harvard Center for International Development and a research affiliate at IZA Institute of Labor Economics and CESifo Group Munich.

Location: The Union Club, Wedgwood Room.
