The United Nations in a Changing World
May 5 @ 5:30 pm - 7:15 pm
Event canceled due to COVID-19.
The 2019-2020 Foreign Policy Forum series is presented by Hitachi Healthcare Americas.
In the coming years, global issues of migration, climate change, and great power struggles will require greater international cooperation across borders. As the United Nations celebrates its 75th anniversary, Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General, will address the role of the UN in today’s world. What can the International Community do to address emerging risks and continually seek to prevent wars and conflict? How does the Security Council manage global crises and the differing positions of the permanent five members?
Stéphane Dujarric is the Spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres. He was appointed to this position in February of 2014 by the previous Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon. Dujarric had previously served as Spokesman for United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan from 2005 to 2006. Before joining the United Nations in 2000, Dujarric worked for ABC News television for close to ten years in various capacities in the network’s New York City, London and Paris news bureaux.
