How the UN is Tackling Global Crises: An Insider’s Perspective

FEATURING

Melissa Fleming, Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications, United Nations

April 11, 2023

Event begins at 5:30 PM

The world has always been managing crises. From armed conflict to climate change and pandemics, the United Nations is the place where the international community gathers to attempt to solve them. Effective communication about these challenges and the responses to them is one of the keys to global cooperation. The United Nations’ top communications official will be in Ohio to engage with local communities.

Join us at CCWA to hear from Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications, Melissa Fleming. She will explain the role of the United Nations, show how it is working to improve lives across the globe, and make a case for why Ohio and the United Nations are natural partners in the fight against climate change, disinformation, inequality and other pressing challenges. She will also share stories from her personal journey, which has taken her from New York, Geneva and Vienna, to emergency situations and refugee camps throughout the world. Melissa Fleming is a TED speaker, the author of the book, A Hope More Powerful than the Sea, and the host of the award-winning UN podcast, Awake at Night.

Registration is now closed. With questions, please contact Amy Moniot, Manager of Programming, at 216.781.3730 or amoniot@ccwa.org.
