The Cleveland Council on World Affairs’ 2025 Global Impact Award event will celebrate CCWA’s mission to inspire engagement in world affairs – a mission we carry out by fostering public dialogue on international issues, delivering global education programming and hosting public diplomacy efforts. We invite you to join us for this special evening of celebrating global engagement in our community!

The evening includes two award presentations:

Global Impact Award: The 2025 Global Impact Award will be presented to Ambassador William J. Burns for his distinguished diplomatic career and public service that spanned 37 years under seven U.S. Presidents. Ambassador Burns is one of the most knowledgeable practitioners of American diplomacy, with deep firsthand understanding of America’s national security interests and its role in the world. Ambassador Burns will deliver the Brooks Emeny Distinguished Lecture to share some of his thoughts on American diplomacy and world geopolitics.

Dr. Wael Khoury Award for Global Leadership in Cleveland: The Dr. Khoury Award honors an inspirational leader in the Cleveland area, whose work has global reach and a strong local impact. The 2025 awards will be presented to André Gremillet, the President and CEO of The Cleveland Orchestra for his internationally minded leadership and arts diplomacy.

At this year’s event, CCWA will also celebrate its innovative global education work, with programs for middle and high school students and teachers, such as its longstanding Model United Nations program and the Bridges to the World program. Proceeds from this event will directly support our global education programs.
