Following 16 months living in Guatemala, Katie returned to her hometown of Cleveland and served as an intern for CCWA assisting with the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP). In June 2015, she was hired for a newly created position as Program Assistant for IVLP and was soon promoted to the position of Program Officer for IVLP. In this role, Katie takes the responsibility to develop, plan and execute the International Visitor Programs CCWA is awarded.
Prior to CCWA, Katie spent time in Belize as a Field Director for the nonprofit Peacework developing service-based programming for U.S. students traveling to Belize. She graduated from Ohio State University with a dual degree in International Studies (B.A.) and Environmental Policy and Management (B.S.). While in school, she completed an honors thesis on women’s empowerment, water management, and local governance in rural southern India; was named a Fulbright alternate for her research proposal on gender and natural resources management in India; and developed an international network of community partners for student-led service exchanges in her roles as International Volunteer Chairperson and President of the student organization Global Health Initiative.
