SUMMARY:Water Protection and Pollution in the U.S.
DESCRIPTION:On the 50th anniversary of the infamous Cuyahoga River fire\, international visitors from China will travel to Cleveland to take a firsthand look at the extensive local efforts to protect our most vital asset: clean\, fresh\, accessible water. While in Northeast Ohio\, visitors will assess U.S. water management programs and discuss strategies on establishing bilateral\, regional and global dialogues on shared water resources. Tours and meetings will be conducted with local water management institutions such as the Cleveland Water Alliance\, Cuyahoga River Restoration and the Cleveland-Cuyahoga Port Authority to highlight the collaborative partnerships that are promoting a sustainable water system. \nInternational Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) \nEach year\, over 300 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State\, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields. Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program. \nBy connecting with foreign leaders\, we strengthen Northeast Ohio’s commercial\, cultural\, and educational ties with the rest of the world.
