SUMMARY:Examining Global Supply Chains with the Port of Cleveland
DESCRIPTION:This event is exclusively for members of CCWA. Unfortunately\, we have reached capacity for this program. Please email jconnell@ccwa.org to be placed on the wait list. \nCleveland’s economy is inextricably linked to global trade and supply chains. Cuyahoga and our surrounding counties exported more than $10 billion in goods in 2023\, while more than 800 foreign-owned companies operate in the region. Cleveland’s world-class healthcare\, manufacturing\, and technology industries rely on raw materials and components from Canada\, Mexico\, Germany\, China\, Japan\, and many more. And yet\, decades-old assumptions about how international trade works have been upended in the last five years\, first by the supply chain disruptions of the pandemic and then by the rapidly evolving trade policies of the Trump Administration. Join CCWA and the Port of Cleveland as we take a closer look at this issue and what it means for Cleveland. \nThe Port of Cleveland is on the front lines of changes in global supply chains and the impacts of tariffs. CCWA is excited to bring you a behind-the-scenes look at the operation of the port. Following a walking tour of the port facilities\, participants will join a discussion on the state of global supply chains and what this might mean for Cleveland. The roundtable format will invite all participants to join the conversation and share their perspectives and questions about this critical topic. \nCCWA’s new CEO\, Marti Flacks\, will lend her expertise as moderator of the roundtable. Before joining CCWA\, Marti served as the first Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Supply Chain Center at the U.S. Department of Commerce. She will be joined by the Port of Cleveland Chief Commercial Officer Dave Gutheil; Senior Vice President for Urban Planning & Engagement Linda Sternheimer; and Vice President of Operations and Facilities Jared Magyar.
