DESCRIPTION:CCWA is looking for internationally minded individuals and families to host international exchange participants for dinner on Sunday\, September 14th. \nParticipants are in Cleveland on an exchange project called Advancing Economic Prosperity: Global Economic Cooperation. Participants are from across the globe. This project is part of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitors Leadership Program. \nDinner Hosting FAQ \nNo need for an elaborate multi-course meal. Dinner does not need to be expensive and can be done as easily as you’d like. A potluck or a catered meal are also possibilities. Schedule pending\, a weekend brunch or lunch may also be arranged.\nThe more the merrier. You’re welcome to invite family members or friends to help welcome your international guests.\nWho’s coming to dinner? Groups range from 2 – 5 visitors—an interpreter may be included\, too. Background information will be provided typically one week in advance. This includes visitor name\, profession\, and dietary restrictions. \nSign me up! SUMMARY:European Security Under a Shifting World Order
DESCRIPTION:The Cleveland Committee on Foreign Relations (CCFR) is exclusive to Diplomat and Ambassador members and their guests. An email with registration information has been sent to eligible members. \nCCFR is honored to host Rose Gottemoeller\, William J. Perry Lecturer at Stanford University’s Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies\, to discuss the future of European security. Drawing upon her experiences as the Deputy Secretary General of NATO from 2016 to 2019\, Ms. Gottemoeller will analyze how European nations are being forced to reassess their roles in regard to their national and regional security. She will examine the ways in which Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues to inform and influence Europe’s relationship with the U.S.\, and the ramifications of a more isolationist U.S. policy towards the continent. \nThe Cleveland Committee on Foreign Relations is a dinner and dialogue series that provides unparalleled access to top experts and diplomats for candid discussions of today’s most pressing international issues. SUMMARY:Making Sense of U.S. Policy in the Middle East

To kick off the season\, CCWA is honored to host Brian Katulis\, senior fellow at the Middle East Institute\, to discuss the critically important\, yet often complicated\, U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East. \nMr. Katulis will draw upon decades of experience living and working in the Middle East to analyze current and past administrations’ policies in the Middle East. The United States under President Trump has outlined a number of foreign policy priorities for the Middle East\, including deterrence of Iran\, countering terrorist networks\, and strengthening economic and technological cooperation with partners in the region.  With the Israel-Gaza conflict nearing the two-year mark\, Syria working to rebuild\, and Iran continuing its nuclear program\, the region remains as tumultuous as ever. Does this administration have the capability to affect positive change? What does this administration’s version of peace look like? \nBrian Katulis is a senior fellow at the Middle East Institute\, specializing in U.S. foreign policy and national security. He hosts the MEI podcast series Taking the Edge Off the Middle East and authors the column “Making Sense: A Weekly Take on U.S. Foreign Policy.”  As a foreign policy strategist and senior fellow\, Mr. Katulis has produced influential studies that have shaped key regional policy debates and provided expert testimony to congressional committees on his findings. Prior to MEI\, he was a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress\, where he built the center’s Middle East program. His career also includes significant experience at the National Security Council\, the U.S. Department of State\, and the U.S. Department of Defense.
