SUMMARY:Hosting Opportunity: Youth Ambassadors Latin America
DESCRIPTION:This fall CCWA is seeking families in the Cleveland area to host one or two students from Saturday\, October 26 – Tuesday\, November 5\, 2024. This is an exchange through the U.S. Department of State’s Youth Ambassadors Latin America program. This program is for high school age students from Costa Rica\, Dominican Republic\, Guatemala\, Nicaragua\, and Panama to travel to the U.S. for a leadership\, environmental\, and entrepreneurship focused learning program. Each weekday the students are engaged in workshops\, site visits\, and community activities with CCWA. Host families must have a strong proficiency in Spanish. For more information\, please contact Senior Program Officer Andrew Kovach at akovach@ccwa.org. \nFor interested hosts: Each student must have their own bed\, though they may share a room with a student of the same gender. (Air mattresses are not permitted.) We ask that students be provided breakfast and that they be included in family meals in the evening. During weekdays\, students will be engaged in educational programming\, and transportation and lunches will be provided by CCWA. Students have weekends and most evenings free to spend time with their host families. A home visit and background check must be completed prior to hosting. The host family must have strong proficiency in Spanish.

SUMMARY:Keeping the U.S. Competitive: The Role of the Export-Import Bank
DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, our economic interests have been shown to be deeply intertwined with geopolitical dynamics\, and discussions of tariffs and trade wars seem more present than ever. To provide some clarity on how the U.S. is navigating such complex economic stakes\, CCWA is honored to host Judith Pryor\, First Vice President and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM).  \nVice Chair Pryor will outline how EXIM works to help American businesses and trade thrive. Speaking a week after the general elections\, she will also share her insight into EXIM’s newest initiatives that seek to strengthen U.S. supply chains and ensure that the U.S. continues to lead in “transformational export areas” that are critical to U.S. competitiveness. \nVice Chair Pryor has spent the majority of her career working with multinational businesses\, from Asia to Europe to Africa\, primarily in emerging markets\, and brings to EXIM more than 35 years of business leadership experience spanning development finance\, public policy\, business development\, marketing\, communications\, and sales. From Asia to the Middle East\, Africa\, and Western Europe\, and from international start-ups to Fortune 500 companies\, her work has focused on the broadcast\, satellite communications\, and international finance sectors.  \nMs. Pryor’s portfolio included Africa and the Middle East\, renewable energy\, storage and efficiency\, and minority and women-owned businesses. She also served during the Obama Administration as Vice President of the Office of External Affairs at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). She was responsible for all external engagement including congressional relations\, public affairs\, communications\, and U.S. small business development. She was a member of the Executive Leadership Team and held a seat on the Agency’s Investment Committee. \nWe are proud to have the Greater Cleveland Partnership\, Team NEO\, and the U.S. Commercial Service as community partners for this Foreign Policy Forum. \nPlease note the change of venue: This program will be held at The City Club of Cleveland. \nRegistration for this event has closed.
