SUMMARY:Centennial Civic Forum
DESCRIPTION:The results of the 2021 Global Cities Report by A.T. Kearney\, a global consulting firm\, showed that the cities with the greatest global connectivity were best positioned for post-pandemic recovery because their international character and connections increased their resiliency and helped these cities rebuild and adapt to a changed environment. \nThis forum’s purpose is to deepen our shared understanding of how being a globally connected city benefits Cleveland across sectors\, and to discuss opportunities to strengthen our international engagement. CCWA will develop an “outcome document” containing key takeaways from the collective wisdom. \nThe event will include opening remarks\, civic sector breakout sessions\, community discussion and a keynote address. \nCivic sector breakout sessions will include a moderated panel discussion with sector leaders and community members in the following areas: \nArts & Culture\, with Marcie Goodman\, Executive Director\, Cleveland International Film Festival; William Griswold\, Director and President\, Cleveland Museum of Art; Jeremy Johnson\, President and CEO\, Assembly for the Arts; Tony F. SUMMARY:Dinner Hosting: Combating Illegal Fishing off the Coasts and in Lakes of Africa
DESCRIPTION:CCWA is looking for internationally minded individuals and families to host international exchange participants for dinner on June 17. \nParticipants are in Cleveland on an exchange project called Combating Illegal Fishing off the Coasts and in Lakes of Africa. Participants are from the Democratic Republic of the Congo\, Cote d’Ivoire\, Gabon\, Liberia\, Republic of the Congo\, Senegal\, Somalia\, and Togo. This project is part of the U.S. Department of State’s Interantional Visitors Leadership Program. \nDinner Hosting FAQ \nNo need for an elaborate multi-course meal. Dinner does not need to be expensive and can be done as easily as you’d like. A potluck or a catered meal are also possibilities. Schedule pending\, a weekend brunch or lunch may also be arranged.\nThe more the merrier. You’re welcome to invite family members or friends to help welcome your international guests.\nWho’s coming to dinner? Groups range from 2 – 5 visitors—an interpreter may be included\, too. Background information will be provided typically one week in advance. This includes visitor name\, profession\, and dietary restrictions. \nSign me up!
