DESCRIPTION:CCWA is looking for internationally minded individuals and families to host international exchange participants for dinner on May 6. \nParticipants are in Cleveland on an exchange project called Renewable Energy. Participants are from Turkmenistan. This project is part of the U.S. Department of State’s Interantional Visitors Leadership Program. \nDinner Hosting FAQ \nNo need for an elaborate multi-course meal. Dinner does not need to be expensive and can be done as easily as you’d like. A potluck or a catered meal are also possibilities. Schedule pending\, a weekend brunch or lunch may also be arranged.\nThe more the merrier. You’re welcome to invite family members or friends to help welcome your international guests.\nWho’s coming to dinner? Groups range from 2 – 5 visitors—an interpreter may be included\, too. SUMMARY:Professional Development Workshop for Educators: Global Education and Experiential Learning
DESCRIPTION:The Cleveland Council of World Affairs and the Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio are collaborating to support educators who teach global issues and current events in classrooms with a new experiential learning opportunity – a Diplomacy Simulation. \nThe Diplomacy Simulation engages participants in learning how negotiations work within a diplomatic context. The workshop is for middle and high school educators in Social Studies\, History\, ELA\, Media Literacy\, World Languages\, or anyone interested in global education and international studies. \nParticipants in this session will: \n\nUse negotiations\, consensus-building\, and diplomacy to solve a global problem\nLearn how Diplomacy Simulations build skills in critical thinking\, teamwork\, and collaboration\nLearn about CCWA’s Global Education resources for your classroom\n\nAll participants will receive 2.5 contact hours for educator license renewal. \nTo register\, please visit the ESC of Northeast Ohio website here.

DESCRIPTION:It’s time to celebrate! The Cleveland Council on World Affairs (CCWA) was founded in 1923\, which means that this year we are turning 100 years old. Join us as we celebrate this milestone birthday! \nThe Cleveland Council on World Affairs is commemorating this momentous occasion with a very special birthday party: CCWA’s Centennial Open House and Day of Giving. On May 19\, 2023\, please consider making a birthday donation to CCWA in celebration of our 100 years. Then\, head downtown to our office for some cake\, balloons\, and international birthday songs! The office will be open from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm\, where staff will be happy to provide a tour of our recently renovated space. A slideshow of photos from our first century will be featured all day\, and a historical CCWA film will be shown at noon. \nThis celebration is an opportunity for you to ensure that our programs can continue to encourage the Cleveland community’s engagement in world affairs. It is also an important opportunity for us to gather together and celebrate our 100th birthday with all of you who have made it possible!
