SUMMARY:A Look at Immigration & Global Migration: Resources for Educators
DESCRIPTION:Join the Cleveland Council on World Affairs for an hour-long virtual session on issues of immigration and global migration. We invite middle school and high school teachers (grade 7-12) to participate in the session and explore the history of immigration to the United States and current U.S. policy\, as well as the issue of the global refugee crisis. We will share lesson plans\, resources\, and tools for educators to address this challenging topic in their classrooms. The workshop is appropriate for middle and high school history\, social studies\, and humanities teachers\, including AP and IB educators. \nAdmission: This is a free event but registration is required. \nRegistration: This event will be held as a Zoom meeting. DESCRIPTION:With federal elections in Germany in September 2021 and presidential elections in France in May 2022\, the European political landscape is evolving just as the Biden Administration is seeking to rebuild and revitalize the transatlantic relationship. The transatlantic agenda is vast\, including issues of common interest such as climate change\, cybersecurity\, defense\, and trade. However\, domestic political trends in Europe and in the United States continue to impact U.S.-EU cooperation.  The withdrawal from Afghanistan will also have a lasting impact on how the U.S. and its European allies and partners work together. DESCRIPTION:Show the World How… Cleveland LEADS \nDo you have what it takes to be a leader in an increasingly globalized world? \nHow do topics such as global awareness\, international complexity and diversity\, intercultural understanding\, and global competency impact what we do everyday in Greater Cleveland? \nHow can young professionals shape the region of Northeast Ohio through a more global lens? \nThe Cleveland LEADS program seeks to answer these questions through a 10-week course that draws on subject matter experts and invites young professionals aged 20-35 to explore their own leadership style and how they can become more globally-minded leaders. This interactive and introspective course is built around three key program pillars: leadership development\, global competency\, and international exchange. \nWe know that Cleveland LEADS\, and we want YOU to join us in developing the leaders of the future! \nWho Should Apply \nCleveland LEADS is for early to mid-career professionals who are interested in developing their global competencies and becoming more internationally-minded leaders. Applicants should be between the ages of 20-35 at the time of the application deadline. The program is a hybrid model; some sessions will be virtual\, others will be held in-person.
