SUMMARY:CCWA Member and Citizen Diplomat Appreciation Night
DESCRIPTION:The Cleveland Council on World Affairs cordially invites its members and citizen diplomats to a special evening event on Tuesday\, June 14 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. We are excited to reconnect in person with our Citizen Diplomat volunteers and our members for a fun evening featuring an interactive session with intercultural training consultant\, Nicole Barile\, followed by a reception with networking and refreshments. \nIf you love to travel or meet friends from other cultures here in Cleveland\, and wish to sharpen your cultural toolkit\, Nicole Barile will offer a fun and introductory session to intercultural competency. We are excited to offer this complimentary program as a thank-you to our dedicated Citizen Diplomats and members (like you!) with an exploration into the core principles of global competency. \nThe session will give you an introduction to CCWA’s Global Competency training. Learning outcomes from the session may include: \n\n\n\nLearn how to communicate more effectively across culture\nUnderstand one’s own cultural perspective\nIdentify and gain awareness of underlying dimensions of culture\nRecognize the importance of approaching cultural interactions with an open mind\n\n\n\n\nThe session is intentionally interactive and self-reflective. We believe that self-awareness and a willingness to accept diversity and unfamiliarity are the foundation of truly successful cross-cultural interactions over the long-term. Our training is rooted in this philosophical approach\, and it combines interactive and experiential content to invite participants to approach cultural interactions with a more open mind\, while offering well-researched information about cultural nuances. \nSchedule: \n5:30 PM Interactive presentation with Nicole Barile \n6:30 PM Reception with refreshments \n7:30 PM Program concludes \nLocation: Oswald Conference Center\, 1100 Superior Avenue East\, First Floor\, Cleveland\, OH 44114. \nParking: Self-parking is available in the Oswald garage\, which can be accessed from Superior. Additional parking options include other lots in the downtown area and street parking\, if parking restrictions are not in place. Car services\, such as Uber and Lyft\, are always an option. CCWA also encourages walking\, biking\, or public transportation\, including the RTA. \nRegistration: Registration for this event is now closed. \nFor more information\, please contact Elizabeth Colvin Manager of Global Education\, at ecolvin@ccwa.org or (216) 255-9002. \n
