Youth Empowerment and Basketball in Morocco
November 28, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Join CCWA as we host Mr. Amine Zariat who will deliver a TED-style talk on his efforts to reach marginalized youth in Morocco. As an advocate for youth empowerment, Mr. Zariat will tell the story of how his organization, the Association TIBU Maroc, gave Moroccan youth the tools to improve their lives through sport.
Mr. Zariat founded the Association TIBU Maroc (Teamwork, Innovation, Binding, Uprightness), an organization which provides training for youth in sports, English, and leadership. Through leadership development and coaching for Moroccan youth living in the most underserved neighborhoods in Morocco, Mr. Zariat has been able to make an impact on civil society and the youth of Morocco.
Mr. Zariat is traveling to Cleveland as one of six International Visitor Leadership Program alumni chosen to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program’s Gold Stars’ Tour: Alumni Connecting the World. The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program. Through short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields experience this country firsthand and cultivate lasting relationships with their American counterparts. Professional meetings reflect the participants’ professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the United States. The Cleveland Council on World Affairs welcomes approximately 300 IVLP visitors to our city each year.
