Transparency in Government
August 6, 2014 - August 9, 2014
This project, designed for local government officials from Italy, will enhance the visitors’ understanding of the U.S. political system, including elections, campaign finance, and mechanisms to promote transparency and good governance. Visitors will examine the role of citizen participation in government and best practices to increase and enhance their participation; explore best practices in promoting local and regional economic development, including tax incentives and public-private partnerships; and discuss strategic approaches to promoting minority integration and equal opportunity.
International Visitors Leadership (IVLP) Program
Each year, over 200 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies abroad as emerging leaders in their fields. Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.
By connecting with foreign leaders we strengthen Northeast Ohio’s commercial, cultural and educational ties with the rest of the world.
