Towards a More Safe and Secure World: International Peace and Security
April 21, 2018 - April 25, 2018
The U.S. Department of State’s Towards a More Safe and Secure World initiative brings more than 80 law enforcement, security, counternarcotic, and judicial officials from around the world to the U.S. to discuss and examine mutual threats to international peace and security. Through this initiative, CCWA will have the opportunity to host visitors from Bangladesh, Cameroon, India, Spain, Sri Lanka, and U.S. Mission to the African Union. The program in Cleveland will identify local and federal inter-agency law enforcement cooperation and local police relations. Meetings and site visits with the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, Lorain County Drug Task Force, Cleveland Community Police Commission, Ohio National Guard, Federal Bureau of Investigation, among others, will highlight efforts to address transnational crime and discover solutions to shared global security issues.
International Visitor Leadership (IVLP) Program
Each year, over 300 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields. Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.
By connecting with foreign leaders we strengthen Northeast Ohio’s commercial, cultural, and educational ties with the rest of the world. For more information, contact Katie Ferman, Program Officer, at firstname.lastname@example.org or click here. To get involved as a Citizen Diplomat, click here.
