Taking a Tech Startup to the Next Level
November 14, 2015 - November 18, 2015
According to the Center on Education and the Workforce, 8 million new jobs will be available in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine (STEMM) related fields by 2018. Cleveland will be a major player in providing STEM-related jobs, as the City is home to numerous tech startups, accelerators and incubators, STEM high schools, and universities with robust STEM-related academic tracks.
CCWA welcomes five visitors from Pakistan to explore how Cleveland promotes and encourages tech startups. Participants will visit Flashstarts and Lean Dog, local accelerators focused on unique uses of software and technology; Surgical Theater LLC, a tech startup that created the innovative Surgical Rehearsal Platform for neurosurgical pre-operative planning; and We Can Code IT, a Cleveland-based organization that teaches coding to women, minorities, and others underrepresented in the field. This program is designed for technology leaders and entrepreneurs who are devoted to learning about the role of tech companies in various fields and the importance of promoting and encouraging innovation within startups.
