Strengthening Local Government Financial Management
April 24, 2018 - April 28, 2018
A group of seven financial and legal government officials from Iraq will be visiting Cleveland to address topic concerning ethical leadership, transparency, and accountability, and the best ways to efficiently manage public funds and budget at a local level. The visitors will have an opportunity to examine financial transparency best practices through workshops and meetings with local and state government offices. Additionally, a case study will expose visitors to the 2009 Cuyahoga County corruption scandal and the governmental reforms that took place following the arrests of Jimmy Dimora and Frank Russo on charges of corruption and racketeering.
International Visitor Leadership (IVLP) Program
Each year, over 300 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields. Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.
