Strengthening Central Banking and National Finance in Iraq
May 12, 2016 - May 18, 2016
The security crisis created by ISIL, the continuing political challenges to maintain a unified Iraq, and the drop in oil prices have all contributed to increased pressure on two vital pillars of the Iraqi economy: the Central Bank of Iraq and the Ministry of Finance. This project will introduce participants to the U.S. Federal Reserve System and provide them with an opportunity to learn U.S. best practices in the public and private sector. The goals of the program are: enhanced capacity of key Iraqi financial agencies, developed awareness of banking and currency legislation, and deepened awareness of private sector models of financing national security projects.
