Science Education and Promotion in the U.S.

June 22, 2016 - June 25, 2016

From June 20 – 28, 2016, CCWA will welcome 4 educators from the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences for a program focused on understanding various methods and activities that promote and popularize science.  The participants will meet with various science centers and science festival organizers to examine how educators popularize the sciences, how such organizations are formed, structured and funded, and how curriculum is prepared for various audiences. The participants will also gain an understanding of how non-government organizations are funded, governed, and structured throughout their time with the program. Ties between institutions, universities, science centers, and professionals working in the science popularization field will be explored while also considering younger audiences and research communities.

International Visitor Leadership (IVLP) Program

Each year, over 250 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields.  Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.

By connecting with foreign leaders we strengthen Northeast Ohio’s commercial, cultural, and educational ties with the rest of the world. For more information, contact Katie Ferman, Program Officer, at or click here. To get involved as a Citizen Diplomat, click here.
