Religious Education in the United States
April 26, 2017 - May 1, 2017
Bangladesh is a diverse society with a majority of the population’s faith centered on Islam but with other significant majorities adhering to Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity. This project is designed for current and emerging education leaders to explore the U.S. approach to the incorporation of religion in public and private schools and universities. An emphasis will also be placed on school oversight, inter-faith dialogue, and freedom of religion in a multicultural society. Through school visits and opportunities to connect with private and public U.S. teachers and administrators, visitors will gain a greater understanding of the role the education system plays in promoting diversity, equality, and multiculturalism.
International Visitor Leadership (IVLP) Program
Each year, over 250 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields. Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.
By connecting with foreign leaders we strengthen Northeast Ohio’s commercial, cultural, and educational ties with the rest of the world. For more information, contact Katie Ferman, Program Officer, at firstname.lastname@example.org or click here. To get involved as a Citizen Diplomat, click here.
