Psycho-Social Rehabilitation in the Post-Da’esh Era
October 3, 2017 - October 7, 2017
This project for mental health practitioners, educators, art therapists, and Ministry officials from Iraq, will examine U.S. strategies to address the needs of youth suffering from post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD) and shock. Visitors will meet with those support services directly working with youth who have been exposed to trauma in Cleveland, including: FrontLine Trauma Serivces, Cleveland Metropolitan School District Office of Psychological Services, MetroHealth, ELU Dance, and the Begun Center for Violence at Case Western Reserve University. This vital project aims to assist in the efforts to reintegrate traumatized Iraqi youth to return to their homes and schools in newly liberated war zones.

Each year, over 300 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields. Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.
