Promoting Financial Accountability

August 14, 2016 - August 18, 2016

The Cleveland Council on World Affairs will be welcoming visitors from the Near East and North Africa for the program “Promoting Financial Accountability” in mid-August. Through their visit to Cleveland, visitors will learn about the city’s best practices in regards to the development and implementation of international finance reporting standards, the support of professional organizations in the public and private sector, the academic training and certifications that continue professional development, and the role of media reporting on cases of financial mismanagement and corruption. Visitors hail from the countries of Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and the Palestinian Territories.

International Visitor Leadership (IVLP) Program

Each year, over 250 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields.  Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.

By connecting with foreign leaders we strengthen Northeast Ohio’s commercial, cultural, and educational ties with the rest of the world. For more information, contact Katie Ferman, Program Officer, at kferman@ccwa.org or click here. To get involved as a Citizen Diplomat, click here.
