Means of Effective HIV Prevention

February 5, 2017 - February 8, 2017

Russia is known for having one of the highest incidence rates of HIV in Europe.  Unlike its neighbors in Western and Central Europe, Russia is home to one of the fastest-growing HIV and AIDS infections in the world. In February, six participants from Russia are scheduled to visit Cleveland for programs related to HIV prevention. As of today, many organizations in the Cleveland area are heavily involved in the fight against HIV. Throughout their visit, the participants will engage with several such organizations, including the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland, to explore best practices for mitigating the infection rates by providing services to those affected by HIV.

International Visitor Leadership (IVLP) Program

Each year, over 300 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields. Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.

By connecting with foreign leaders we strengthen Northeast Ohio’s commercial, cultural, and educational ties with the rest of the world. For more information, contact Katie Ferman, Program Officer, at kferman@ccwa.org or click here. To get involved as a Citizen Diplomat, click here.
