Local Governance in the U.S.
December 3, 2015 - December 9, 2015
Seven Indonesian visitors will be in Cleveland to study our city and county governments and learn about various grassroots initiatives to promote democratic government processes. While here, they will focus particularly on accountability and transparency in government and how fiscal responsibility helps ensure governments uphold these standards. Visitors will meet with a South Euclid councilman to discuss the incorporation of Lean Six Sigma practices in government, sit down with a representative of the Ohio Auditor’s office, and speak with the President of the Citizens’ League of Greater Cleveland to learn the history of county-level government reform following the arrests of Jimmy Dimora and Frank Russo on charges of corruption and racketeering.
International Visitor Leadership (IVLP) Program
Each year, over 250 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields. Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.
By connecting with foreign leaders we strengthen Northeast Ohio’s commercial, cultural, and educational ties with the rest of the world. For more information, contact Katie Ferman, Program Officer, at firstname.lastname@example.org or click here. To get involved as a Citizen Diplomat, click here.
