Leadership Development for Women

April 22, 2017 - April 26, 2017

In order to advance humanitarian and relief efforts in Haiti, the support for women leaders in politics, business, and civil society is critical in bolstering development and inclusive decision-making. While in Cleveland, five emerging Haitian leaders–including a promoter of women political rights and a manager at a clean water bottling facility–will meet with a wide-array of dynamic women who are striving to further the role women play in the economic development and political system in our community. Professional meetings will include Bad Girl Ventures, Burning River Advisory Group, Women in Networking (WIN), Tri-C’s Women in Transition program, the Social Justice Institute, and a roundtable discussion with prominent business leaders in Northeast Ohio.

International Visitor Leadership (IVLP) Program

Each year, over 250 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields. Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.

By connecting with foreign leaders we strengthen Northeast Ohio’s commercial, cultural, and educational ties with the rest of the world. For more information, contact Katie Ferman, Program Officer, at or click here. To get involved as a Citizen Diplomat, click here.
