Internet Governance and Cyber Security
February 4, 2017 - February 9, 2017
Cyber attacks have emerged as a serious threat to the national security of countries throughout the world, including countries on the continent of Asia and Oceania. Five international participants from Malaysia, People’s Republic of China, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam are scheduled to visit Cleveland for a cyber security program in February this year. Cleveland offers strong resources in the area of cyber security, such as the Cisco Academy at Tri-C, as well as those specializing in privacy concerns and cyber terrorism, such as the ACLU and the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Visitors will learn about the effects of cyber attacks when addressing private businesses, universities, and the healthcare system. Furthermore, visitors will meet with officials, hold discussions with representatives, and visit organizations that face challenges concerning cyber security.
International Visitor Leadership (IVLP) Program
Each year, over 300 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields. Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.
By connecting with foreign leaders we strengthen Northeast Ohio’s commercial, cultural, and educational ties with the rest of the world. For more information, contact Katie Ferman, Program Officer, at firstname.lastname@example.org or click here. To get involved as a Citizen Diplomat, click here.
