Happy Dog Takes on the World: Refugees- Living in a Sea of Rejection from the World

June 2, 2015 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us for the first Tuesday of each month,  while we explore a pressing global issue at the Happy Dog in the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood.

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the number of people living as refugees from war or persecution is at 13 million in 2014, the largest number since World War II. Current events involving the ocean-bound Rohingya from Burma, have brought to light the realities of conflict worldwide, the measures these individuals are willing to take in order to obtain freedom from persecution, as well as the international response to refugee resettlement. What is the responsibility of the European Union and the United States to help?

Join The City Club of Cleveland, the Cleveland Council on World Affairs, International Partners in Mission, and the Northeast Ohio Consortium of Middle Eastern Studies (NOCMES),  for a panel discussion on the plight of refugees worldwide.

Panelists include:

Danielle Drake, Community Relations Manager, US Together

Khoon Thomas Kate, Program Coordinator, The Refugee Response

Location: The Happy Dog, 5801 Detroit Avenue, Cleveland, 44102
