Globalizing Counterinsurgency and Policing in the Middle East

April 30, 2014 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

For more than a decade, wars on terror, popular events, and security crackdowns have dominated news from the Middle East. How does policing operate in such a context? What has become of counterinsurgency? And how do these tactics affect our own government?

Happy Dog on Detroit Ave. plays host to this event, jointly-presented by NOCMES and the City Club. Contribute to the conservation as we hear from Laleh Khalili, a professor of Middle East Politics at the University of London’s School for Oriental and African studies and Jillian Schwedler, professor of Political Science at Hunter College, within the City University of New York.
