Global Economic Cooperation

March 8, 2018 - March 13, 2018

As the world economy continues to grow, local businesses and economies have the opportunity to connect with the larger global market. In this Multi-Regional Project, visitors from the Gaza Strip, Bahrain, Bosnia Herzegovina, Poland, Cambodia, Italy, and Kazakhstan will be traveling to Cleveland to learn more about how this “Rust Belt” city has diversified its economy both through domestic and international business. Meetings with local government agencies, businesses, and financial organizations will take a closer look at how Cleveland’s efforts to stimulate growth and employment have impacted the local community. Additionally, visitors will compare local and foreign financial systems and commodity markets to better understand the links shared between domestic and global economies.

International Visitor Leadership (IVLP) Program

Each year, over 300 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields. Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.

By connecting with foreign leaders we strengthen Northeast Ohio’s commercial, cultural, and educational ties with the rest of the world. For more information, contact Katie Ferman, Program Officer, at or click here. To get involved as a Citizen Diplomat, click here.
