CCWA will be hosting a group of officials from Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay and Uruguay to examine community policing practices in both rural and urban areas. The group will explore the relationship between fighting crime and protecting the rights of the public, including the rights of alleged criminals. Additionally, their meetings will focus on the critical role of transparency and accountability in law enforcement and methods for assessing the security needs of the public and how community security can be increased through planning, communication and use of volunteers.
International Visitors Leadership (IVLP) Program
Each year, over 200 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies abroad as emerging leaders in their fields. Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.
By connecting with foreign leaders we strengthen Northeast Ohio’s commercial, cultural and educational ties with the rest of the world.
