Business Development for Entrepreneurs

September 20, 2015 - September 24, 2015

Cleveland is gaining national recognition for its achievements in transitioning the city from an industrial hub to one that focuses on innovation, startups, and 21st century technologies.  Because of this success, Cleveland will be welcoming business professionals from Cameroon, Gabon, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria and Sierra Leone to  observe the effectiveness of the business sector in creating jobs and alleviating poverty worldwide.  The group will examine the legal and regulatory systems that allow entrepreneurs to flourish and to identify policies that may discourage such enterprises; discuss societal barriers facing entrepreneurs, especially women and other disadvantaged groups, and best practices in overcoming these restrictions; and explore various business models, support mechanisms and innovations such as micro-lending and multi-level marketing.

International Visitor Leadership (IVLP) Program

Each year, over 250 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields.  Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.

By connecting with foreign leaders we strengthen Northeast Ohio’s commercial, cultural, and educational ties with the rest of the world. For more information, contact Ryan Ouellette, Senior Program Officer, at or click here. To get involved as a Citizen Diplomat, click here.
