Happy Dog Takes on the World: Cyber Security
July 11, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
The frequency of cyber attacks across the globe has increased significantly in recent years. Investigations into Russian efforts to influence the recent U.S. presidential election are still ongoing and similar hackings occurred during France’s last election cycle. Within the past couple of months, computer systems stretching from Britain’s public health system to Russia’s Interior Ministry were damaged by malicious software stolen from the National Security Agency (NSA). A Ukrainian tax software product turned virus, dubbed Petya, also crippled computers across Europe and the U.S. in late June, an attack that security experts say “exposed fresh weakness in the computer systems that run modern-day societies.”
How do we mitigate the threats of cyber warfare? And what can be done to prevent future cyber attacks?
Join us, the City Club, Global Cleveland, International Partners in Mission, and the Northeast Ohio Consortium for Middle Eastern Studies (NOCMES) for a free discussion on cyber security and its emergence as a global threat.
