Global Crossroads Lecture Series - Lecture One

Ambassador Edward Peck

Iraq and the Middle East: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

This lecture is made possible in part by the Emeny Endowment Fund.

U.S. involvement in Iraq has been fiercely discussed for nearly five years and it doesn’t look like the debate will end anytime soon. Whether you fall into the pro or con camp, or somewhere in between, Ambassador Edward Peck’s clear, critical appraisal of current issues in the Middle East will surprise you. In addition to serving as the U.S. Chief of Mission in Iraq in the 1980s, Peck also served as a diplomat in Algeria, Egypt, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia. Peck brings a wealth of historical knowledge and experience to his assessments and is well-known for his sense of humor and for provoking ideas, not people.
