Internship Positions
PUBLIC LECTURE PROGRAMS
Major speaker series, Young Professionals, Business Event Series, and Special Events
* Coordinate logistics of public programs, develop outreach strategies, book venues, prepare bios and announcements, event registration, and correspondence with speakers
* Attend public programs and provide registraton and program support
* Assist with event marketing and publicity including writing press releases, preparing press kits, following up with media contacts, and gathering articles written about the Council
* Support event announcement publication by writing articles, compiling monthly calendar and proofreading
* Research new ways to market the Council's programs including advertisements, collaboration with other local organizations.
EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Model United Nations, Jr. Model UN, Global Classroom (K-12), Teacher Professional Development Workshops, Distance Learning, and Collaborative Programming
* Coordinate on-going school programs such as Model United Nations, Jr. Model UN and Global Classroom
* Assist with design and preparation of program materials and publicity for programs
* Conduct background research on program topics and prepare briefing materials
* Assist with conference preparation, attendance, registration assistance, conference facilitation, and conference follow-up duties
* Attend training and orientation sessions for programs, teacher in-service programs, and make school visits to provide program support
* Facilitate mailings, e-newsletter, distance learning programs, and other communications with teachers and students
* Coordinate volunteers for programs
INTERNATIONAL VISITOR PROGRAMS
U.S. Department of State or Library of Congress sponsored visitors participating in short-term or long-term professional exchanges.
* Research local resources (community groups, government agencies, business and political leaders, etc.) and current local issues for programs or proposals
* Arrange professional appointments for visitors and create full itineraries
* Arrange home hospitality and other cultural opportunities for foreign delegates
* Attend meetings with international visitors
* Assist with maintenance of resource materials and databases
MEMBERSHIP & MARKETING
* Support member services to increase corporate and individual membership and improve member retention
* Assist in developing and implementing strategies to broaden and diversify membership
* Support marketing efforts to promote the Council's events and activities
FINANCE
* Assist with day-to-day financial operations
* Assist with investment tracking
* Assist with month-end closings, accruals, reconciliation, and analysis
* Prepare reports and presentations to management
WEBSITE & COMMUNICATIONS
* Perform website maintenance and enhancements through content and design updates
* Support newsletter publication and output through design layout, writing articles, compiling monthly calendar and proofreading
* Assist with event marketing and publicity including writing press releases, preparing press kits, following up with media contacts, and gathering articles written about the Council
* Reserch new ways of marketing the Council's programs through web-based initiatives and collaboration with local organizations
* Assist with maintenance of resource materials and databases
REQUIREMENTS
* A commitment of 12 to 15 regularly scheduled hours per week during office hours
* A commitment of 15-40 regularly scheduled hours per week during the summer.
* Interest in world affairs
* Good phone presence and etiquette in English
* Excellent organizational skills
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Professional attire and demeanor
* Punctuality and a sense of responsibility
