Pediatricians Dr. Ximena Valdes and Dr. Marissa Herran spent weeks in earthquake-ravaged Haiti, traveling in the back of a pickup truck from one makeshift health clinic to another to treat hundreds of injured children under mango trees and crumbling schools. The January 12th earthquake killed an estimated 230,000 and injured thousands more.

The two doctors will share stories about their incredible experience on March 24th at the Union Club in Cleveland. They’ll be joined by Marixa Lasso, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Latin American History at Case Western Reserve University to discuss the situation in Haiti, how our area has responded, and how the people of Haiti will move forward from the devastation.

The event is brought to you by the Cleveland Council on World Affairs in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University’s School of Medicine, the CWRU Global Child Health Group, and CWRU’s Department of History.
