Empowering Communities Against Domestic and Sexual Violence
June 19 - June 23
International visitors from Angola, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and São Tomé and Príncipe will travel to Cleveland to review best practices for preventing domestic and sexual violence and strategies for ensuring victims’ rights. Meetings will focus on legal services for victims of domestic violence; improving accountability in Sexual Assault Kit (SAK) examinations; and encouraging good parenting techniques for new fathers. Before completion of the program, visitors join in a program synthesis session to brainstorm lessons learned from their IVLP exchange and discuss next steps in their professional goals.
International Visitor Leadership (IVLP) Program
Each year, over 300 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields. Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.
By connecting with foreign leaders we strengthen Northeast Ohio’s commercial, cultural, and educational ties with the rest of the world. For more information, contact Katie Ferman, Program Officer, at firstname.lastname@example.org or click here. To get involved as a Citizen Diplomat, click here.
