Development of Industry in the Era of Information Revolution

April 19 - April 22

Based upon the rapidly growing biotechnology and medical startup sectors, international visitors from Japan will have an opportunity to see firsthand the impact tech innovation has had on industry in Cleveland. Delegates will have an opportunity to connect with the anchor institutions, such as the Cleveland Clinic, that provide the means for innovations to flourish. Visitors will also explore a vast array of other high-tech businesses using innovative processes and ideas. One such concept that will be explored is biomimicry, the emulation of nature in order to create a sustainable product. With over $4 billion in high-tech investment since 2008, Cleveland will be an important city visit for the Japanese delegation.

International Visitor Leadership (IVLP) Program

Each year, over 250 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields. Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.

By connecting with foreign leaders we strengthen Northeast Ohio’s commercial, cultural, and educational ties with the rest of the world. For more information, contact Katie Ferman, Program Officer, at kferman@ccwa.org or click here. To get involved as a Citizen Diplomat, click here.
