Accountability and Transparency in State and Local Government
April 15 - April 18
CCWA will be hosting six visitors from the Southern and Central Asian countries of Afghanistan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The program in Cleveland will outline the role and structure of ethics in government in the United States, similarities and differences in approaches of ethical conduct between government and the private sector in the U.S., and the effect of transparency on trade, investment, and economic development. One specific area of focus will be a case study examining the 2009 Cuyahoga County corruption scandal that led to a reformed county government structure.
International Visitor Leadership (IVLP) Program
Each year, over 300 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields. Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.
By connecting with foreign leaders we strengthen Northeast Ohio’s commercial, cultural, and educational ties with the rest of the world. For more information, contact Katie Ferman, Program Officer, at firstname.lastname@example.org or click here. To get involved as a Citizen Diplomat, click here.
